The CaseFallout: New Vegas is the newest member of the popular Fallout franchise. For those not in the know, it’s the game series that made adventures in apocalyptic wastelands cool. This one takes us to the Mojave Wasteland, a place that was only lightly touched by nuclear holocaust. Two great new powers are gearing for the final showdown in a fight for New Vegas, while the player has his own story to untangle. As the second FPS RPG in the series, Fallout: New Vegas aims to polish the gameplay inherited from Fallout 3 while making some new additions of its own. The TrialEvery good RPG needs a good plot. In Fallout: New Vegas you are the Courier that was tasked with delivering a mysterious package. Unfortunately, a man with horrible taste in jackets kidnapped you, stole the delivery, shot you in the head and left you in a shallow grave. But the Courier survived and is now ready to find out why such an inconvenient thing happened to him. The Mojave Wasteland and the city of New Vegas were largely spared from the global thermonuclear war 200 years ago, so the buildings are as intact as two ages of neglect allows it. The city of New Vegas is controlled by the mysterious Mister House (of no relation to certain doctor) and his will is enforced by an army of Securitron robots. Of course, not everything is booze and hookers in the restored Sin City. The Mojave houses the mostly intact Hoover Dam and Helios One solar plant and both of those are of great interest to the two great powers of the wastelands. The returning and vastly bigger New California Republic, commonly abbreviated as NCR, is USA in all but name and flag. The Caesar’s Legion is much more interesting: it’s a slave army of 86 subjugated tribes lead by the charismatic Caesar and modeled after the Roman legions of yore. The two factions are at each other’s throats and no one really knows who will prevail in the inevitable struggle for dominance. Of course, there are numerous factions and individuals making their own, less global plays. And everyone could use the help of the Courier, who, in turn, needs help to unravel his own mystery. What the Courier can manage to do is determined by SPECIAL, traits, perks and skills. SPECIAL iš a characters physical build up: strength, charisma, luck, endurance, stuff like that – you set it up at the beginning and, barring experimental extreme surgery, they remain the same. Intelligence is very useful as it gives, among other things, bonuses to experience gains. Traits aren’t that important, as you only select two of them. “Small frame” means that you’re more agile, but you break faster (and if you’re playing Hardcore mode – more on that later – it means that you hate yourself). “Weird Wasteland” makes the adventure interesting at times. Perks are special, mostly passive, benefits gained every few levels. They can range from damage bonuses and, say, regenerating health in sunlight to the ability to devour corpses and such. Skills are the big players: you’ll be using Guns (an amalgamation of “Small arms” and “Heavy Weapons”) a lot. There are no useless skills – except for maybe Survival, Mellee and Unarmed – but you’ll have to spend skill points carefully. They sometimes influence special options in dialogues and you know that is where the good stuff is. Forums: Index Off-topic discussion A bored new vegas nerd gotta love new vegas and fallout 3 i mean yea this game is fun but its pretty boring when you dont have anyone to talk to about it i mean yea my friends like it, but they don't breathe it like i do whether its finding new ways to play. I liked F3: Bethesdas post nuke. Fallout New Vegas however, is just as awesome for different reasons. It's a well done continuation of the original Fallout and Fallout 2 style of game play put. I want to like the new “Fallout” game, but I can’t. I want to tell you about all the environmental storytelling and quiet exploration, but so much of that is marred by a vast emptiness. I just started replaying this game as a pure melee guy for 1hr+ and its getting boring D: what to do. Oct 22, 2010 - much more rewarding experience. If ur finding urself bored of new vegas, lower the difficulty, it doesnt make the game harder, just more tedious. Also, this instalment of “Fallout” is strangely in love with the Science skill – it’s really a good investment. As I mentioned before, there is the “Hardcore mode”. It’s a new thing, for players who like a challenge or got so jaded from “Dwarf Fortress” that not getting killed in a game is not acceptable to them. In hardcore you no longer heal instantaneously nor crippled limbs are healed by the run-of-the-mill stimpacks (so, “Small Frame” is for masochists only). You also need to sleep, eat and drink regularly. The drinking part is especially painful, as you get thirsty extremely fast and water is hard to come. “Hardcore mode” or not, you’re going to spend a lot of time shooting at someone or something (or trying to melee something, if you’re suicidal). The thing is, the weapons in F:NV aren’t that satisfying. I only felt emotional attachment to my laser rifle because I was using it since I first laid my eyes on it. The other weapons – be they pitiful.22 and 9mm pistols or anti-materiel and Gauss rifles – don’t really deliver that satisfying punch. Especially the energy weapons, who seem to be the red headed stepchild of F:NV. It seems that living in a post apocalyptic wasteland has made even the lowliest junkie raider’s skin resistant to lasers. Some would suggest using plasma guns as they pack more of a punch, but the trade off is speed and accuracy. Some enemies demand special attention and don’t care much for your boomstick. While the Courier will return many humans to Sender, there are also radscorpions (their sizes ranging from “vacuum cleaner” to “unholy abomination”), nightstalkers and other annoying critters. And when you run into Deathclaws, you’ll find yourself nostalgically remembering the days when your biggest problem was a zerg rush of feral ghouls or super mutants with miniguns. Those buggers are big, fast and hit like a truck loaded with TNT. Your best bet is a high level sniper rifle, stealth and head shots from as far as the rendering engine allows it.Then again, not everyone you meet wants you dead. Most of them want someone else dead! Interactions with NPCs are influenced not only by your character build, but by reputation also. You have a faction reputation – which reflects gratitude or hate for the deeds you’ve done – and a karma meter, which reflects how “good” or “bad” your Courier is. While karma’s effects are a bit more nebulous, reputation might reap some more tangible rewards: lower prices at vendors, people giving you stuff in thanks, access to safe houses and such. However, if you do become too much of a nuisance, you will be shot on sight and powerful assassins will try (and fail) to kill you. Of course, the Courier won’t be alone in his travels. He can be accompanied by two companions at a time: one humanoid and one.other. Gone are the days of Fallout 2, where the player would roam the wasteland in a restored car and be followed by a supermutant, a tribal who talks to the spirits of his ancestors, a fat engineer and a robot. Then again, those singular NPCs can be quite entertaining, like a friendly Eye-Bot (think Sputnik) called E-DE or a lesbian Brotherhood of Steel scribe who likes to punch things. They have their own reaction to things and even long personal quests that, depending on your actions, you might not always get to do.Probably due to engine limitations, the war between the Legion and NCR doesn’t look that grand. They might talk about fierce battles, but, seeing how a major attack on an enemy outpost consists of Courier shooting 8 tangos while 3 allies mill around somewhere, they most likely consisted of twenty guys running around. And while everyone talks how “Legion is scary”, there’s no way they can show that on the battlefield. An NCR soldier has at least a hunting rifle and some armor. A legionary recruit goes to battle with a machete and rugby armor. Now, if most NCR carried assault rifles while the legionaries did the whole Red Army “Za rodina! Za Stalina!” routine and rushed their positions with human waves, armed with homemade rifles and SMGthat would make for a more believable and dramatic, if less exotic, fighting.Though I must admit that the game does look nicer than Fallout 3, there’s less of that “Oblivion with guns” feeling. And the Mojave has the most wonderful orange tinge, unlike the Capital Wasteland’s (Fallout 3 was set in Washington D.C.) “snot-green-grey”. But, while the outdoors do look fun, with many interesting locations, the interiors of buildings and caves and Vaults are as dreadfully boring as ever. Later on there’s a palpable feeling of nausea when you see a cave entrance or a door. Combat, on the other hand, does look fun. While the feeling of power is missing from the guns, the firing and reloading looks cool and there’s always satisfaction to be found in cutting a raider’s head off with a well-placed shot of a scoped laser rifle. There is also the fact that the game features some pretty decent NPC models, especially some of the higher class legionaries. While power armor doesn’t look that imposing – how can it, when Fallout 3 cast it out of the heavens and made it a glorified walking tin pot – others can get real snazzy. It’s a pity, then, that high-class armor, that tends to be boring, is easily acquired and you don’t really spend much time looking like a rough, desert trekking mercenary. The sound, on the other hand, is done masterfully. There is but one weak spot, so let’s get it out of the way first: the variety of music on the radio is non-existent. A few hours in and the Couriers hatred for “Johnny Guitar” will only be matched by his intent to loot everything he comes across. The voice acting, on the other hand, is done pretty damn well. The before mentioned lesbian is full of youthful enthusiasm (especially when it comes to hitting things), the legionaries always talk with this cool confidenceOne thing I have to mention is bugs. Personally, I didn’t experience many problems head on, but people complain about it all the time on the web. Yes, there might be some clipping issues and some quests are bugged, but that happens very rarely. The VerdictWhile I might sound like a radioactive Negative Nellie, Fallout: New Vegas is definitely a good game. It’s not the messiah of the RPGs, but I consider the hardcore mode a step in the right direction. The difficulty is just right, the human enemies aren’t too annoying, the lore is rich, as it should be, and the visuals are still pretty nice. The adventure can also be padded by the 4 DLCs that were released later on. I think no fan of Fallout or RPGs would be left disappointed. Family friendly: Some gameplay changes streamline the whole experience. All in: The hardcore mode is like a memento that not everyone is a casual player. What happens in Vegas.: The campaign is pretty strong. City of Lights: The graphics have been slightly improved. Nitpicking: so every - every - animal in the wasteland hatches from an egg laid by the queen of their hive?. Cheap plastic: Plagued by the same feeling of armor/weapon ineffectiveness as Fallout 3. Where have I heard this: Way too little music on the radio. Posted, 02:55This has become a favourite of mine recently. Had a little nostalgia trip with Fallout 3 but quit when I was playing Mothership Zeta (an awful DLC second only to the worst piece of shit DLC I have ever played named Operation Anchorage) so naturally decided to give this a go at long last. And, honestly, I don't think I could ever play Fallout 3 again as New Vegas simply outshines it in everything in my opinion. Hell, there were even a few critiques in this review - namely of the weapons and interiors - as I've found those brilliant so far. I've played each Fallout game since the first and I have to say I'm as disappointed with Fallout: New Vegas as I was with Fallout 3. I always thought it would be fun to have a 1st person perspective while playing Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics, but Bethesda simply does a poor job of it. New Vegas was rushed to market before it was ready much like Fallout 3. Wait for the bargain bin on this one. Positives: Obsidian does a MUCH better job of writing story lines and quests than Bethesda did. Good voice acting. New environment and (slight) movement forward in terms of the Fallout canon. Negatives: Its still Oblivion (LOLblivion) with guns. As others have posted, you think they would've improved the game engine and graphics by now! The VATS system makes the game laughably easy and you can kite any enemy in the game. If you play the game without VATS, the NPCs dodge and weave like a weasel on crack all while maintaining pinpoint accuracy. Although the stories for each quest is better, the execution is still murky at best as one wrong dialogue choice cuts off entire quests. Certain quests are only offered under poorly designed circumstances with NPCs not reacting to successful completions or acting as if you DIDN'T just save their whole city from bad guys. Final analysis: Rushed out to market before true completion in a manner typical of Bethesda. This is essentially DLC for Fallout 3 that they tried (and failed) to pass off as a stand alone game. Although the fan boys, 'independent reviewers' and paid Bethesda employees will seek to skew these rating sites, the proof is in the lackluster sales and general negative, poor opinion of Bethesda. All I can say is thank God I have this on the PC and can go and get mods from the Nexus! I mean really, Fallout 3 was amazing, and compared to that the Mojave Wasteland feels kind of empty. The Nexus is thankfully filled with a LOT of helpful people, who not only improve the visuals (with mods such as Fellout, and one that gives streetlights light!). Another good mod is Real Time Settler, although it is buggy at the moment, this was a great mod for FO3 that let you create your own little village which you had to be with CONSTANTLY otherwise it would fail! Overall, New Vegas is a pretty shoddy sequel for a game that had so much impact on the gaming world. I'm very disappointed with this one, certainly a piss poor PC port. No in-game graphics options, can't even use standard windows shortcuts such as alt-enter, on that basis alone this game wouldn't even pass Games For Windows certification (not that I am a big GFWL fan mind you). Despite seeing a lot of things that shouldn't be in a shipped game in the first few minutes I gave it more of a chance, after about 40 minutes of gameplay I realized that I had played this game before, except its previous incarnation was a lot less buggy. This is the last time i'll buy a game from these clowns (Obsidian/Bethesda) without carefully looking into it first, as a publisher/developer they certainly don't seem to care much for quality (at least for the PC version, I can't comment on PS3/XBox360). Infortunately, this was a day 1 purchase for me. I should have waited and read the reviews. Considering this Game is almost exactly like Fallout 3, one would think it to be more like an expansion. Even after I patched it. The quests are broken and unplayable. If this title was $20 and was stable I would recommend it to hardcore Fallout 3 players only because its a new story and you have additions like gambling now. I bet this will hurt Bethesda/obsidian hard. This game is very much in the habit of reverting quicksaves and autosaves to the first one you ever make. There may be some improvements over Fallout 3 in there, but I wouldn't know as I've been replaying the same 4 hours of game over the past 8 hours. I’ve played and replayed this game many many times. I keep coming back to it purely because people keep raving about it, and I keep thinking, based on that, that there has to be something I’m missing. There has to be some quality in it I’m just not getting. Now I think I can safely judge why people go out of their way to claim that it’s good: They WANT it to be good. They can see that this I’ve played and replayed this game many many times. They can see that this is the shell of a great game. But that is the big problem. It’s just a shell, hollow inside when you look inside. New Vegas is a complete developmental screwup. Everything that is important to the primary/important content, the factions and New Vegas and the plot, was stupidly deprioritized in favor of stuffing the game with frivolous irrelevant sidequests. It’s hard to process just how bad the content prioritization and presentation is. The making of easily cut content like the Boomers, Thorn, Jacobstown, rocket ghouls, etc, came at the cost of desperately needed faction quests and fleshing out. The entire main questline is padded with these sidequests to stretch it out, only ending up emphasizing how little you connect or get involved with the character and the factions. The Faction “system” is really just deciding which questgiver you want to receive your nearly identical selection of mandatory sidequests from. The reputation system is basically pointless, rarely amounting to anything other then NPC banter. People claim the writing is great, I found it dull and uninspired. The dialogue options are bland and soulless, clearly designed for a blank slate character and not one with actual personality. NPC quality varys greatly but tend to suffer from directionless voice acting. I’ve heard characters talk about their squadmates being raped in the same tone they use to complain about patrolling the Mojave. Not even kidding. The writing in the DLCs is pretty weak to boot, with Old World Blues actually being surprisingly involving and funny to boot while Lonesome Road may have the most incompetent, full of crap, and definitionally pretentious writing I’ve even seen in a RPG, outside of a Mass Effect sequel. Pains me to think one of Planescape:Torment’s writers was involved in that dreck. The world map is awfully designed, offering no incentive to explore what is ultimately a linear doughnut dotted with invisible walls, uninteresting and unrewarding locations, NO random encounters, and amateurly placed blatant progression Many things that worked fine in the previous game, like the radio and VATS, were and still are broken and glitchy. While I liked how there were more skill/stat checks, most of the other added features like ammo types (which were bugged at launch. Pretty sure they were bugged in the first two Fallouts too. How do you not learn how to program that in twenty years?) are easily forgotten. And I don’t think I need to bring out how buggy it is. Suffice to say the public had made it clear that it is utter unacceptable to ship a game with this amount of game-breaking and save-wiping glitches. The sad thing is that it’s clear that this game could have been good, even great, if it had been developed properly. And it’s even sadder that people feel the need to overrate it based on the standard of games this developer made twenty years ago, or worse based on what the game COULD have been like rather then what it IS. It doesn’t hold up to other RPGs. It doesn’t even hold up to other Obsidian games. New Vegas is, sadly, a weak unfulfilling game and a weak unfulfilling RPG. So many bugs! It's kind of fun but apparently it is common to get MORE BUGS as you get further in the game, as in STOP, CRASH! But somehow Fallout new Vegas managed to feel so dry and empty like beeing stranded in a desert. You will encounter so few gunfights, that you'll wish you could just raid camps and all the enemy stations. But you can't. I was asking myself all the time: 'Why the hell am I scavenging all that ammunition and bottlecaps when there are so few enemies you can pump full of led?' After 10 hours of time-consuming navigation I caught myself trying to rush through the story, only for the hope of some big scale battles. But after at least 25 Hours arriving and leaving Vegas I gave up. Prepare to spent more time walking, and walking and walking instead of meeting interesting places or people. Don't get me wrong: You CAN find at least 3 interesting places. They will suck you in with a dark and spooky atmosphere. I won't spoil it, but New Vegas isn't one of them. Neither is it a surprise you'll arrive there nor is it a really spectacular place. Most People there will tell you some generic gibberish and the quests in there are so. Most of the Quests are annoying chores that let you scout empty places for hours only to find out that at least one skill is insufficient to complete it (mostly your speech-skill!). This game only left wasted 40 hours and a sore forehead from all the facepalming. This may be an overused sentence in rating games, but this feels really like an overpriced DLC or even mod for Fallout 3. Don't buy it and wait for Fallout 4! The main quest offers good freedom of choice, but otherwise quests are mostly quantity over quality – a hallmark of Bethesda. Some of the characters were entertaining though, and voice acting is fairly good. Character leveling and perks are also quite well done. The interface looks cool but is a total pain to use. There are no keyboard hotkeys, which means switching weapons or healing requires browsing through the full menu each time! Combat feels unbalanced (Oblivion and Skyrim were slightly better here) ranging from ok to frustratingly tedious or difficult. The difficulty of various foes often does not match with the expectations the game lore may give you. Enemies run around without any movement inertia making them frustratingly difficult to aim at. Hitbox detection is not great, and your bullets are often blocked by invisible walls if they pass near geometry. I also had lots of enemies get stuck behind geometry, with only legs clipping through the wall. Worst of all, at one point, my gun would not fire bullets – I would hear and see the gun fire, and the ammo counter would work, but no bullets – I got eaten alive, both ingame and in terms of frustration. The mod experience was bad: I could not get most mods to work despite following all instructions etc. The mod scene may be vibrant, but it is still a total mess. It lacks curatorial refinement and there are no “1-click install” total-overhaul supermods (like the “complete” mod series for the Stalker games). Buried underneath all the flaws is a good game, and you might find it, but I gave up after days of digging. OK so i played this pretty far in, was in process of trying to take over New Vegas. I hated the repair idea serously my repair was 100 and still needed to sacrifice one item to repair another of the same type of item. This game has a horrible tutorial. There is also no explanation on what items do or what their acronyms mean. If you are a Fallout fan than this game is probably good for you. Calling out the map too frequently may result in a black screen of crash. Loading to a new map can also cause random crash. The scripted events are the worse I have seen in the life, a crash can even occur when a NPC is supposed to leave the building by script. This game is indeed an elder scroll with fallout theme, with an extremely large map including lots of waste land, which serves no value to either plot or adventure. The game is made just like a survival game rather than the good old epic classic RPG game, completely deviating from the ideas of Fallout. Simply copying the VATS from a tactical game to a FPS game won't work. It is just plain boring when using that ability in FPS, slowing down the pace too much. At last, some more polishing should be done to the UI. No one wants to watch an inventory item menu flooded with words only, even Fallout 1 and 2 have icons associated with the items. What a great mess and disaster to look at the menu when you have lots of items. This game started well.but since I'm unable to play further I can not rate it higher than 1. I accepted that it was almost like playing a mod in Fallout 3 (really the graphics are almost identical) but the fact that it stopped working after 14 hours of gameplay (my last four save games refuse to load).now the only option I have is to lose several hours (4+) of gameplay (which means redo the last four hours of scavening, killing, etc.). I've patched, tweaked, etc. And I just can't get those save games to load again (the backups also don't work).if I'd know this before I could probably have just replayed the same bits over again instead of trying to fix it but now I'm afraid to commit any more time to this with the same problem repeating itself later on. Quite frankly I'm going to try and get my money back for this bug infested excuse of a release. Very last gen graphics. Animated characters walking in thin air. How about a decent auto save system? Random game crashes on high end PC 's that run any game easily? How does this thing score more highly than Kane and Lynch, which was slammed by many critics. Apart from a slight graphical update, and the person writing the code for this port wasn't sniffing from a bucket of cocaine, there isn't really anything that was really improved from the console versions. The loading time is still ridiculous, and the game still has that 'lifeless' feel to it. The only thing that was improved here was the bugs. The only reason i gave this a 4 instead of a 2 is because of the amazing modding community. They make Bethesda games what they are. Unless you can get this for under 10 dollars (which is possible on steam) I would not recommend it. Play Fallout 3 instead. I had heard that there was some alleged improvement in the writing department. This is occasionally evident, but the plot-lines are banal and the NPC's are still robotic and stilted, demonstrated by their oft inconsistent and unlikely behaviour that makes it difficult to become immersed. The best bits still comprise wasteland-wandering, and the hardcore mode is a curious addition. However, I had heard that there was some alleged improvement in the writing department. However, the Gamebryo engine is beginning to feel dated; It usually looks fine, but loading screens between doorways, the limited NPC population and the lack of views to underpin context add to a collective impression of unreality. Since NV uses the same graphics as FO3, it surprised me that NV shuns years of modding and DLC content by making this a 'new game', when it should have been implemented as a full expansion; Our FO3 character could easily have been asked to courier the Chip from, say, Rivet City to New Vegas and found ourselves confronted with Benny, allowing for a seamless merge. For those of us who have tweaked FO3 to our liking since '08, being dragged back to a 'Vanilla' world is a stark reminder of the flaws that mods have fixed (unless you are a console-gamer). I could have excused the game for occasional crashes and glitches, and I understand that the emphasis is now on the console-market, but the trigger that turned my mind from 'give it a chance' to 'this is dull' was the awful immersion. This was achieved by the inane AI, the primitive patchwork world, the poorly/lazily constructed story & narration, and the implausible architecture. My zero score is for balance. My true score would be 3, for its efforts to add 'Hardcore', improve the implementation of skills when dealing with NPC's, and some other beneficial but superficial improvments. NV's increased linearity irks me slightly as well. I hope ID Software graces Bethesda with a better 3D engine for TES V:Skyrim. I have always enjoyed games from Bethesda. I have bought many of them. I checked around and there are a few other players also experiencing this problem. This bug makes the game unplayable until such time as someone gets around to fixing this problem and quickly. So I give it a low rating, not because I don't enjoy the game, but because I cannot play it until it is fixed. I have never had this experience on any game that I purchased. This is the first FALL OUT game I have played and I want my 1.5 hours back. WOW is all I can say. This is the most annoying game I have ever played. Slow, boring, horrible graphics, very slow, annoying and a waste of time and money. Luckily I only paid $8 for it. WAY TOO MUCH! How can anyone rate this high? For what was a very creative and fun game series, fallout NV and 3 set an all time low. Plot-holes from the get go, obviously, because Obsidian are more concerned with conveying a message than creating a believable plot, or even intro, for that matter. Instead of a connected landscape or any semblance of actually being an RPG, it railroads and corrals you in a u-turn around the lazily implemented overworld infested with invisible walls and other unnecessary roadblocks, forcing you into a situation where you can only ask the for the whereabouts of one character, the robots jokingly called npc's assuming this much when you meet them. The 'game' essentially acts as a ride, it forces you around a path where you meet a few inconsequential, devoid of personality people in a backwards town that most of the time is either destroyed or abandoned so Obsidian don't have to go through the effort of adding anything resembling content to it, and then you leave, never having to return there again because they act as nothing more than glorified pitstops. The factions are a complete joke, awful writing (see the Legion), where despite supposedly being 'morally grey', they're as one-dimensional and bland as they come, the NCR act as the morally correct and good side of the faction system, a few 'flaws' are desperately shoved in to give the illusion of imperfection but as usual, it never actually appears ingame, the Legion are much the opposite, though they similarly lack any actual implementation of positive aspects, instead they are implied, like just about everything else. The game itself is laughably easy, the lack of a level scaling system means that by level 20 you can comfortably demolish everything in the wasteland so you can get back to the quests (more accurately labelled chores) that for the most part would be unmarked in any other game but remain marked in this instance to artificially make New Vegas seem like a larger game and attempt to scavenge some fun out of running through glitchy loading screens to signpost npc's not too dissimilar to Morrowind until you're finally awarded with xp, which after a certain point you'll no longer need anyway. The dialogue masquerades as deep but beyond the options there's nothing more to it, the 'checks' serve as, again nothing more than xp dispensers and they can be boiled down to 'yes', 'no', or 'I'm going to kill you'. Of course, your choices or decisions not mattering in this game is nothing new. If you were to kill one of the main faction leaders, nothing changes, in place of essential ncps's that had actual roles and impacts, we have npc's that are not essential, and instead have absolutely no standing on anything at all, they only serve as more figureheads to waste your time talking to while they blatantly contradict themselves on their next sentence. You'd be lucky to find anything worth exploring outside of the absymal quests either, half the locations are one-room shacks with copypasted loot unworthy of a second look or similarly miniscule 'caves' with 1-3 low level enemies at most and a few overly weak weapons. Next to no thought was put into landscaping, the Mojave is mostly flat, the south taken up by the El Dorado and Ivanpah Dry Lakes mostly, with a few mountains sticking out like a sore thumb in a poor attempt to mask the blatant samey slog of the Mojave, and the north and east are devoid of content almost entirely, as most of the budget seems to have went into first impressions, which obviously weren't very good, telling you much about the state of the rest of New Vegas.
